| The
first Archdiocese of Malankara Catholic Community came in to
existence on 11 June 1932, and his Grace Most Rev. Mar Ivanios was
enthroned as the Metropolitan Archbishop and hierarchical head. He
was followed by His Grace Benedict Mar Gregorious who served for
41-years gloriously. After his demise His Grace Most Rev. Cyril Mar
Baselios was appointed as Metropolitan Archbishop. His leadership
and immense service raised the church to Major Archiepiscopal Church
and his grace became the first "Catholicos" of Malankara Catholic
Church and it is a golden quilt of church. He passed away on 20
January 2007. His Grace Baselios Mar Cleemis is installed as the
second Archiepiscopal on 5 March 2007. |
